Qualcomm Vuforia is an augmented reality (AR) platform that enables super cool effects in mobile apps that interact with real world objects. Brands like Lego, Hotwheels and Captain Morgan rum have used it in mobile marketing and some even integrated it into AR enabled products. Vuforia wanted to get the word out about their new software development kit (SDK) release to developers and marketers looking to innovate. Based on their existing social media channels and listening to online conversations involving AR, we designed a Twitter advertising campaign leveraging video content they had developed for the promotion. Twitter ads were targeted to followers, people interested in AR and discussing related topics to hone in on their specific target. The ads performed with better than average engagement rates at costs well below that of traditional advertising.
