Social Media Marketing World is the world’s largest social media marketing conference. This week the conference took place at the waterfront San Diego Convention Center. Fandom Marketing’s co-founder, Rob Marlbrough took part as the official Party Ambassador. He reported back that #SMMW16 brought together the biggest names in social media, vlogging, and podcasting who provided real-world take-aways on the platforms that are relevant. Especially in reaching the tipping point for video with apps like Periscope and Snapchat, as well as strategic applications of those platforms.
As the official Party Ambassador, Rob promoted conference events, connected attendees, and was the go-to-guy for questions about events, networking, and where to go in San Diego for dining or entertainment. Most importantly, he fulfilled his life mission to lead the after party into the wee hours of the evening. Rob believes that the face-to-face events like Social Media Marketing World and the local Meetup groups he manages, Social Media San Diego and San Diego Blogger, deliver the real power behind social media. Cementing the online relationships we’ve already created, or igniting future online relationships with others around the world! In that spirit, we hosted a networking event last evening (the final day of Social Media Marketing World). The Social Media San Diego Spring Meetup was held at Bottega Americana in East Village who provided an amazing spread of Italian apps and their outdoor patio for private use. With over 78 RSVP’s, it brought together the San Diego social marketing community to catch up, connect and ring glasses.
