Sport Chalet was a premium retailer of sporting goods and outdoor equipment from brands like The North Face and Marmot. And, they made it their mission to get people outside to explore nature. With spring coming early on the West Coast and the season of love upon us, we designed a social media photo contest called “Explore Together.” The campaign goal was to generate positive engagement with the brand with the outdoors community. The photo contest was launched on their community blog with an article we penned on “10 Ways Couples Can Get Active Together” featuring product tie-ins. Readers were challenged to celebrate their love of the outdoors, and each other, during Valentine’s week. Entries consisted of photos posted to Facebook and Instagram with our branded hashtag #ToTheLimitTogether. Fandom Marketing’s community managers reshared user-generated photos to the brand’s social pages inspiring others to join. The contest was brought full circle with placement of a social photo gallery back on the blog. Our highest level of participation was on Valentine’s Day and the contest captured over a hundred user-generated photos which we used in later marketing.
